Solving Problems

Working to Solve the Problems before they Start
Our humane organization supports and promotes responsible care of animals, and this begins with recommending that animals are spayed and neutered. Overpopulation of dogs and cats is a serious and critical problem. It is surprising to know what can happen if a dog or a cat is allowed to reproduce. One female dog and her offspring, for example, can produce in six years 67,000 puppies. A female cat and her offspring can lead in seven years to 420,000 kittens. There are just not enough caring people and homes to take in all of the cats and dogs needing homes. Each day there are thousands of kittens and puppies that are euthanized. With increased education and promotion of responsible neutering of pets, we can reduce the number of unwanted pets and help solve the problem before it starts.
