Visions and Goals
Our Vision for the Future
The Northeast Nebraska Humane Society and
friends will provide a society of friends of animals and a network
of friends supportive of humane care, education, and support for
animals in need.
To fulfill our vision, we pledge to:
- Build a strong network of members, friends,
and supporters willing to promote the cause of humane care of
dogs, cats, and other animals in need.
- Educate and assist people in the cause
of reducing the number of unwanted animals in our region, through
neutering, adoption services, and consultation.
- Provide educational materials and services
to help people in our region support appropriate care for animals
and to stop animal abuse and neglect.
- Build a comfortable, healthy, and accessible
state of the art shelter for animals who are in need of temporary
homes, adoption support, and caring facility.
Our
Number One Goal
Our vision includes providing comfortable
housing for dogs and cats in need of homes. We are looking forward
to the day that we will be able to build a shelter with temperature
controlled kennel spaces for dogs, outside runs and trails for
exercise, and adequate and comfortable spaces for cats and kittens.
Space for training, adoption services, an adoption show room,
a medical room, and office for our shelter manager will provide
appropriate room and service to assist animals in need of homes.
Our aim is to provide services to animals from Wayne and surrounding
communities, and to offer support for homeless animals in the
country.
The need is there for such a facility and
service. Right now were doing what we can with limited facilities
for housing dogs needing adoption. No support is provided for
cats because of our lack of proper facilities. Our ten outside
kennels are usually full and in many cases we are unable to accept
dogs in need because of our limited space. Some of our friends
and supporters take in dogs to foster care. The need for kennel
space and enclosed facilities is the most pressing one facing
our Society, but were all committed to our goal to build
this facility in the future.
